Guess what I am getting for Christmas…
This is a Kickstarter project that funded a month or so ago. When I watched this video I was awestruck. So much thought and purpose for a text I genuinely love. Design love. Bible love. So much love. But what is really staggering is that so many other people loved it too. Adam Greene set a goal of $37,000 and the pledge ended up at over $1.4 million from 14,884 backers. Based on his $75 price for just the 4 volumes he probably expected to print about 50 sets. At the most. He is now up for several thousand in XX different countries. You can still pre-order here. What does that say about faith and Bible reading and books? I know for me the idea of holding a beautifully crafted volume has a spirituality at a certain level. Reading this beloved sacred text from a beautifully crafted volume will have a fresh feeling. With church attendance in the U.S. at an all time low this response to this kind of ancient/future spirituality gives me hope. Needless to say because of the overwhelming response, I won’t actually get this under my tree in 2014. The other signs of hope are how nice all of the backers have been about the deadline. Most everyone seems to really want this project to be a success. True faith shows in… scripture?? Where to you see abundance of faith in our culture?
